LEXUS GX 2023 SEAT BELTS
medium
Subject: Urgent Safety Concern – Driver Seatbelt Malfunction I am writing to formally report a serious safety concern regarding the driver-side seatbelt in my vehicle. The seatbelt does not retract properly and frequently becomes caught in the door. In addition, the retractor fails to pull the seatbelt back completely, leaving slack in the belt. More concerning, there have been multiple instances where the seatbelt did not properly engage or lock when braking was applied, even though it was securely fastened. I brought the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, but I was advised that this condition is “normal.” I strongly disagree with this assessment. A seatbelt that does not retract correctly or fails to lock during braking poses a significant safety risk and does not meet expected safety standards. This issue raises serious concerns about the reliability of the restraint system in the event of an accident. I am requesting a thorough inspection of the driver-side seatbelt system, including the retractor mechanism, and that any defective components be repaired or replaced immediately. Please document this concern formally and provide written confirmation of your findings and recommended corrective actions. I am very concerned for my safety and expect this issue to be handled with the urgency it deserves.

Spouse was driving Saturday [XXX] on [XXX] around [XXX], when she heard a BIG BANG out of nowhere. She discovered the next day the source was a partially exploded sunroof glass. Upon inspection there was no glass fragments in the vehicle or on the sunroof shade, fragments were only found on the outside part of the sunroof glass. She said road conditions were dry and clear and did not see anything hit the vehicle. She also stated that she did not go under any overpass during the incident. My moonroof spontaneously exploded while accelerating from a stop. We were not hit by any object and were not traveling at a high rate of speed at the time. We heard a very loud "pop" followed by a rain of glass from the moon roof. Driver sustained cuts to his hand due from the glass shards.

LEXUS GX 2023 SERVICE BRAKES
low
I bought this 2023 GX460 new in October 2023 from Lexus of Towson in Towson, MD. It currently has approximately 3100 miles on it. Since owning it I have noticed that when coming to a stop and sitting still with the vehicle in gear and the brake pedal engaged normally that the vehicle will start to move on it's own causing more pressure needing to be applied to keep the vehicle still. This initially caught me off guard several times. It is a repeatable problem. I can see that the engine RPM's are increasing by 100-300 by without throttle input which seems to trigger the need to apply more brake. I searched on forums and found other toyota/lexus, including GX owners complaining about this. This is dangerous for obvious reasons.

LEXUS GX 2023 SERVICE BRAKES
medium
THIS VEHICLES PARKING BRAKE FAILS TO HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE, UNLESS THE TRANSMISSION IS ENGAGED IN "P" (PARK). As a result, the weight of the vehicle rests on the transmission notch that is engaged with the Park position of the transmission. If the vehicle is stopped and the parking brake is engaged, the vehicle will roll in the direction of the downhill. The parking or emergency brake does NOT hold the weight of the vehicle without the transmission!
