VOLVO S60 2024 ENGINE

I am submitting a formal vehicle safety complaint regarding a sudden and complete system failure in my Volvo S60 2023, which occurred in March 2026 in [XXX] . While traveling on [XXX] at highway speed, the vehicle abruptly and without warning lost all electrical power. The dashboard went completely blank, and all electronic systems ceased functioning. Critically, the steering became unresponsive/locked at the same time, creating an immediate and severe safety hazard. I was fortunate to avoid a collision, but the incident had clear potential for catastrophic consequences. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Volvo dealership; however, I was informed that the issue could not be duplicated and no repairs were performed. As a result, the root cause of this failure remains unknown, and the safety risk persists. Key details: Mileage at time of incident: Approximately 40,000 miles Location: [XXX] Date: March 2026 Conditions: Normal highway driving, no prior warning indicators I am reporting this incident because: It involves a complete loss of vehicle control systems; It presents a significant risk of serious injury or death; It may indicate a broader defect affecting similar vehicles. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed for potential investigation and that any similar complaints be evaluated for patterns. Please let me know if additional information is needed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2024 Volvo S60. The contact stated that while pulling into a handicap parking spot in the parking spot located in front of Barnes and Noble, on 12/16/2025 around 6:40 P.M., the vehicle experienced uncommanded /unattended acceleration, and the brakes failed when depressed and pressed against the floorboard. and crashed into the cement barrier, which slowed it, and then the vehicle stopped. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was able to drive away from the crash. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer. The contact had pre-existing spinal injuries and five cervical surgeries. It was undetermined if he was injured during the failure, but he will be seeking medical attention. There was no reported fire, airbag deployment, or police report filed. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle had recently been serviced. The contact mentioned he was not made aware of a possible issue with the vehicle during the purchase. The contact had linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number 25V392000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Service Brakes). The contact hired an engineer who inspected the vehicle, but there were no findings or codes. The manufacturer was contacted, who filed a case. The contact had informed the insurance company. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

VOLVO S60 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
high
When my son got a car last December, we bought him a 2024 Volvo s60, primarily for the safety features. Since we have had the vehicle, Volvo has had a lot of issues with their infotainment system. He has contacted them many times and I had started to keep a record of how often it would glitch. If it was just music not working, no big deal. But sometimes it was the backup camera too and once the heat. He recently had a car accident. He is okay (of course shaken up) but it was a bad situation. A van had dropped a lot of items. Plumbing and metal shelving. There was a pick up who was trying to avoid it. My son tried to avoid the pick up unsuccessfully but partially because his wheels landed on metal shelving and he was sliding on the road. The accident report captured this. His car was totaled. The purpose of this email is that the car was totaled, as even though he was braking as hard as he could, his tire was sliding on that shelving so he did have quite a hard impact. Not one safety feature worked on this vehicle, not the SOS, not the forward, not the airbags. My intuition is telling me it's all related to these many issues with the electronics in this car (recharge models have had this issue and been recalled). Before they dispose of the vehicle I wanted to consult with an attorney to see if we have any recourse with Volvo, especially because safety is why we bought the car. It is currently at the body shop. The infotainment has had an issue forever.
