NISSAN PATHFINDER 2024 SERVICE BRAKES
low
Bought new 2024 Nissan Pathfinder, 20 months and 16,000 miles later I need new brakes and rotors. It was in for service at the 12 month / 10,000 mile mark and the rear brakes read 8/32nds. 8 months and 6,000 miles later my rear brakes are at 1/32nds and 2/32nds. I was told it was normal wear and tear.

NISSAN PATHFINDER 2024 SERVICE BRAKES
medium
My Pathfinder has 19798 miles and I was informed that the brake pads are 3mm or less need replaced and the rotor resurfaced. The front brakes are at 7mm at the same mileage. I do not tow anything and use for city and highway driving. My complaint is that at this rate I will have to change my rear brakes twice as often and have them inspected more often. The cost for brake replacement at twice the rate of front brakes is 2x. I am concerned that there is a design flaw that can lead to rear brakes failing if I do not have them inspected twice as often as the front brake wear. Typically the front brakes handle 60-70% of the breaking force due to weight transfer. If the rear brake pads are wearing out before the front brake pads, and the rotors need resurfaced it seems that heat buildup due to increased brake wear is affecting the rotors. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sunroof “exploded” while driving and shattered. Yes, this may be inspected. Risk of glass entering the vehicle. The incident has not been inspected yet. There were not any warning messages or indicators.

The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for a routine oil change, the contact was informed that the driver’s and passenger’s side rear brake pads and rotors were severely worn and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that due to the low mileage, the brake pads and rotor should not need to be replaced. The contact stated that there were no issues with the brakes prior to the visit. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that there was a class action lawsuit pending against Nissan for the 2022 and 2023 Nissan Pathfinders due to premature brake pad wear. The class action suit stated that numerous owners of similar vehicles had complained that the brake pads were prematurely worn between 20,000 - 30,000 miles, as opposed to the average 50,000-60,000 mile range. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the failure was caused by normal wear and tear. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
