Idle Stop issue- We were at a stop light and the engine idle stopped. When the light turned green and the foot was taken off the brake, the engine did not turn back on. We had to turn hazards on and turn van completely off. We tried several times to restart the vehicle and the engine did not respond. We finally got it to turn on a couple minutes later but the engine sounded as if it was struggling to turn on.

Auto Idle Stop (AIS) system fail to restart: The engine fails to restart on its own after a complete stop at a traffic light or intersection with the Auto Start/Stop function engaged, putting the driver in dangerous and panic situation.

While the van is at a complete stop at the intersection it shuts off and behaves as if it needs to be restarted. A message appears instructing me to press the brake and push the start button to start the van. I took it to Honda, but they were unable to find the issue. They replaced the battery to see if that would fix the problem, but about a month later, it happened again.

The Auto Idle Stop has failed to restart the car when stopped at a traffic light. This has happened twice now, and has caused me to become a road hazard as I am not able to get the car turned back on before the light turns green. This has happened twice in the past month (May 7 2026 and June 1 2026). Have not yet taken the car back to the dealer. No warning lights or anything came on prior to the incident. Just stopped at a light and the engine stopped, then did not turn back on when the brake pedal was lifted.

While stopped at a red light the engine turned off with the engine restart function. When I released the brake the engine attempted to start and then completely stalled. I had to get the vehicle in park and restart the engine with took it a few attempts of pressing the start button. The has happened a few times with this vehicle. Dealers have been unable to replicate the issue to try to solve the problem.
